The Senior Vice President, Operations is responsible for the overall leadership and operation of a specific region of hospitals within the Haven Behavioral Healthcare region, (an Oceans Healthcare Company). The SVP, Operations directs the ongoing mission and philosophy of care of the region by demonstrating leadership through exploring, developing, accepting and implementing new ideas with vision, foresight, and customer sensitivity to meet the regions’ needs. The SVP, Operations is responsible for the region’s financial performance, strategic planning, performance improvement and development. All duties to be done in accordance with Joint Commission, Federal and State regulations, Oceans Behavioral Mission, policies and procedures and Performance Improvement Standards.

Work requires spending approximately 90% or more of the time inside a building that offers protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. This position will require heavy travel.
Essential Functions:
- Oversees the operations of the assigned region of hospitals, to ensure that control, utilization, and conservation of its physical and financial assets are meeting the organization’s operational and growth objectives.
- Review and advise the hospital administrators in the annual budget process ensuring that the goals set for financial success are addressed within the budget.
- Continuous monitoring of each hospitals infrastructure to assure competent staffing and staffing availability to include initiatives to retain staff, ensure that recruiting initiatives are in place to keep the talent pipeline open.
- Motivates and leads a high-performance management team; attracts, recruits and retains required members of the hospital leadership team not currently in place; provides mentoring as a cornerstone to the assigned hospital’s leadership team.
- Direct oversight of leadership team and the hospital administrator’s performance of the assigned hospitals. Has the authority to hire, coach, and take disciplinary action on all direct reports with approval/collaboration from the Chief Operating Officer.
- Ensures that the programs and services delivered by the hospitals are meeting the organization’s standards and providing exceptional patient care.
- Ensures the assigned hospitals are meeting regulatory and corporate compliance requirements.
- Foster, develop and maintain relationships with physicians that support the assigned hospitals to promote quality programming, strong community presence, etc.
- Collaborates with the Regional VP Nursing Operations to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes and personnel designed to accommodate the growth objectives of their assigned region.
- Ensure financial and operational performance of their home hospital continues to meet expectations.
- Act as Administrator when needed.
- Performs other duties and special projects as required.
Educational / Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of a Master’s Degree, with the undergraduate or graduate degree in a Behavioral Services, Administration or a related health care field.
- 10 Years in Psychiatric Hospital Leadership, with at least 1-2 years of experience in multi-site or market-level oversight.
- Must live within a reasonable distance of a major metropolitan airport (i.e. Dallas/Fort Worth, Phoenix, Philadelphia, Houston, etc.)
- Position requires 75% travel
- Must be a sound leader who possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster cooperation across departmental lines and manage information, environmental and fiscal resources to accomplish goals.
- Must be able to maintain and demonstrate a broad knowledge of tasks and assets necessary to accomplish the company objectives.
- Must have knowledge about needs and requirements of third party payers and the ability to be culturally sensitive to diverse groupings of employees and consumers of services as well as maintain knowledge.
- Must be continually be up-to-date on State, Federal regulations; The Joint Commission regulations, etc.
- Must successfully complete CPR certification and an Oceans approved behavioral health de-escalation program.
