Chief Engineer or Maintenance Supervisor | Full Time | Hampton Inn | Holly Springs, NC

Job Summary

The Chief Engineer is responsible for maintaining the overall physical condition of the hotel and requires a high level of specialized expertise in all areas of responsibility. The Chief Engineer ensures labor and quality standards are upheld and assists with establishing a positive work environment, delivering exceptional guest service and administering policies and procedures established by the company and the hotel brand.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs and assigns established preventative maintenance programs for equipment, guestrooms, and all other areas of the hotel.
• Performs repairs of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing and building-related components.
• Oversees maintenance department with efforts relating to training, scheduling, and coaching.
• Coordinates and manages all maintenance projects and outside contractors including gathering proposals, making recommendations, creating timelines, and resolving issues.
• Maintains extensive knowledge of fire safety equipment, refrigeration, pool and elevator operation.
• Maintains pool areas according to company and brand standards in addition to applicable state and local codes.
• Maintains external property appearance including lawn, landscaping and parking lot.
• Monitors and oversees department budget, equipment, tools and supply inventories.
• Ensures compliance with all required health, safety and security standards and procedures.
• Maintains extensive knowledge of door locks systems including performing repairs, replacement and preventative maintenance.
• Operates common power and hand tools safely.
• Processes purchase orders and invoices for payment.
• Collaborates with property leadership team and regularly communicates pertinent information related to the facility and maintenance department.
• Assists team members and other departments as needed to contribute to operational efficiency. 
• Maintains up to date knowledge of company and property initiatives through regular usage of company communication tools and systems.
• Performs additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations with poise and professionalism.
• Computer/Application knowledge.(Reporting Systems on property use Apps, and web-based platforms e.g.; Preventative Maint Tracking)
• Conduct work-related functions in a professional manner.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong leadership and a professional image.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification or ability to obtain.
• Proficient in the use of computers, including word processing software, spreadsheets, email systems, property management systems, and project management systems.
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and project documents.
• Prior Hotel experience is helpful.
• Hampton or Hilton Brand Knowledge would be ideal.

The Chief Engineer is responsible for maintaining the highest level of quality work to ensure minimal disruption to guests. You enjoy working independently while understanding the team collaboration needed to provide high level customer service. You thrive in completing orderly preventative maintenance tasks while rising to the occasion as you go to the aid of a team member or guest in distress to fix their broken whatchamacallit. You go from Clark Kent to Superman at a moment's notice! You have "MacGyver" type handy-man skills with basic experience in construction trades such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, heating and air conditioning (PTAC cleaning), painting, caulking, and any similar skills. Your problem-solving skills and attention to detail, along with your technical knowledge and friendly demeanor are your superpowers.
