Group Lead Engineer - IT/Cloud Solution
Description:
The IT/Cloud Solutions Engineer will design, deploy, and migrate systems primarily within Microsoft Azure, with secondary expertise in AWS. This role involves selecting appropriate cloud services based on business requirements, evaluating new technologies, and ensuring alignment with Azure-based infrastructure. The engineer will provide architectural guidance and technical expertise while ensuring best practices in security, automation, identity management, and performance optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of the company’s strategic business objectives and IT infrastructure.
- Provide architectural consulting and technical direction to systems analysts, IT engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Design, implement, and manage Azure-based solutions, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.
- Support and optimize AWS environments where required.
- Document and manage Azure cloud architecture, infrastructure, and technology portfolio.
- Develop and manage an Azure cloud infrastructure capacity plan to support business growth.
- Establish and enforce cloud technology standards and policies, focusing on Azure security, governance, and compliance.
- Research and recommend emerging Azure and AWS technologies to improve cost efficiency and infrastructure flexibility.
- Identify cost optimization opportunities within Azure and AWS environments.
- Design and oversee the implementation of integrated cloud systems across the organization.
- Deliver and manage Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and other cloud-based desktop solutions, ensuring performance, security, and scalability.
- Develop and execute test plans to evaluate Azure and AWS cloud infrastructure performance and recommend improvements.
- Manage identity and access controls using Entra ID (Azure AD) and integrate with on-premises Active Directory.
- Ensure seamless hybrid identity management between on-prem AD and Entra ID, including authentication, group policies, and security best practices.
Position Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, System Analysis, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Expertise in Azure architecture, services, and best practices.
- Working knowledge of AWS cloud services for hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
- Experience designing loosely coupled, stateless, and fault-tolerant distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of multi-tier architectures (web servers, caching, application servers, load balancers, and storage).
- Hands-on experience with LAN/WAN network technologies, including routing, firewalls, NAT, HTTP, DNS, and OSI networking principles.
- Strong foundation in Azure and AWS security best practices, including encryption, authentication, access control, and compliance.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles, including automation, configuration management, deployment, and performance tuning.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash) for automation.
- Experience managing Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and cloud-based desktop solutions.
- Deep understanding of Entra ID (Azure AD) and on-prem Active Directory, including hybrid identity management, authentication mechanisms, and security hardening.
- Experience working with relational and non-relational databases, as well as messaging and queuing services.
- Familiarity with RESTful API development and integration.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools to ensure high availability and performance.
- Understanding of software development lifecycles (SDLC) and DevOps methodologies.
