Cellar Supervisor

OCTOPI - CELLAR SUPERVISOR - Located in Waunakee, WI

Available Shift: Monday - Thursday 6am-4pm

Total pay includes $28/hr base. The base pay for this role may vary based on experience.

We are a growing facility and hiring to staff for our expansions! Our environment is a clean facility with new equipment that can assist brewers in performing various beverage production tasks.

Job Responsibilities:

• Work in all areas of brewing production
• Serve as accountable party for the shift:
• Make decisions regarding production concerns.
• Ensure scheduled work is completed.
• Act as primary communicator of accomplished work and schedule changes required.
• Provide detailed communication of circumstances that result in schedule changes or incompletion of scheduled work.
• Escalate any maintenance needs related to equipment.
• Assess the schedule and look to make reasonable schedule changes based on their understanding of our process and workflow to keep finished product available to the packaging department.
• Make recommendations for labor needs.
• Work with Cellar and Batching Managers as well as the scheduling team to assess and recommend personnel needs.
• Update and consult with Dept Managers on Staffing Schedule
• Responsible for regularly checking in with employees and providing performance feedback.
• Act as the primary point of contact for work concerns arising from the shift. Answer all questions related to decision making that are beyond the comfort level of the brewers on the shift.
• Act as point of contact between BH operator and packaging shift lead to provide continuous updates on the status of cellar work as it pertains to those departments:
• Status of tanks for receipt of wort (sani’d, pitched, timing, etc)
• Status of runs and expected time that product will be available to packaging
• Coordinate and assist with evening lab staff on any needed approvals, samples or related information
• Complete any tasks related to sample collection, product taste for approval and qualitative sample collection for lab as needed to ensure continuous availability of product for packaging.
• Ensure all required documentation by shift brewers is complete.
• Provide feedback directly to the Cellar Manager related to all aspects of the shift including personnel, needs, work completion, etc.
• Display conduct of a leader and diplomat, advocating for both team and management to ensure goals are met and concerns are addressed promptly.
• Ensure safe working habits on shift.
• Ensure any directional or schedule changes are conveyed accurately to the shift and provide feedback to the rest of the management team regarding completion.
• Ensure brewery is in good shape for the following shift so that start up is efficient and the brewery is clean and organized.
• Delegate work to shift, including batching team and any additional support within the brewing department.
• Responsible for general condition, organization, and cleanliness of all cellar team areas.
• Ensure completion of sanitation list items that fall on shift – including daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly items.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested by Dept. Manager or Brewing Manager.

Education and Experience:

• 2-3 years experience in a brewing environment, a plus.
• Degree in Brewing Science/Technology, a plus.
