General Description:
A follow-up specialist is responsible for making sure insurance claims are filed correctly from the billing office. A follow-up specialist also ensures that the claims are received and paid correctly in a timely manner by the insurance company and is responsible for researching any problems that may arise in claims processing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Researching claim and eligibility information across several different insurance portals.
- Researching, evaluating, and correcting insurance denials.
- Writing and sending appeals to insurance companies for denied claims.
- Calling insurance companies to determine claim status and denial reasons.
Work Experience Requirement
- Relevant experience working in a medical office or in claims processing is required.
- Good computer skills are required.
- Independent thinker and able to perform in high-paced environment.
- Customer service experience is preferred.
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
