Accounting Specialist, AREP
Pay Details:
The starting hourly rate range for this position is $30.00 to $32.00 per hour. The actual hourly rate offered will take internal value, peer equity, job-related factors, and other organizational considerations into account.
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our dynamic team in a mixed-use real estate development company. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring accurate financial records, supporting project budgets, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards. This role includes processing payments, reconciling accounts, and providing essential support for various accounting activities.
Responsibilities
Accounts Payable & Vendor Management
- Process vendor payments and check requests accurately and on time
- Respond to vendor inquiries regarding payment status and resolve related issues
- Review and process invoices for payment, ensuring proper documentation and approvals
- Conduct check request coding reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies
Accounts Receivable & Cash Management
- Process cash receipts and apply payments to appropriate accounts
- Prepare loan draws, including documentation and submission
Reconciliation & General Ledger Maintenance
- Perform CIP (Construction in Progress) reconciliations to ensure accurate project cost tracking
- Reconcile bank accounts monthly to ensure all transactions are properly recorded
- Record and reconcile loan activity
- Reconcile retention payable and other liability accounts as required
Property & Project Accounting Support
- Provide accounting and budgeting support for projects
- Record and allocate property tax entries for multiple properties in the portfolio
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Ensure accuracy and compliance in all financial entries and reconciliations
- Assist in audit preparations and provide necessary documentation to auditors when required
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency of accounting operations
Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2-4 years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate development or a related industry
- Strong understanding of construction accounts payable
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or similar systems) and Microsoft Excel
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with vendors, project managers, and internal stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Education - Bachelor's Degree
