JOB DESCRIPTION

FLSA Status : Exempt                                                             Job Title : INTERIM ADMINISTRATOR

Start Date May 1, 2025

Department : Administration

Reports To : President of The Odd Fellows Home of MA., Inc.

This job description, defining qualifications, primary essential and secondary non-essential functions, responsibilities and duties, is intended as a guideline for the employee and manager. The duties listed here are not considered to be all inclusive. The employee in this position performs these and other duties as required although not listed which may be assigned by the cuurent LNHA or President.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Assumes the total responsibility for the deliverance of quality resident care through the development and management of facility personnel, fiscal resources, quality resident care, and a safe hazard-free environment tor residents and staff. Organizes, directs, supervises and administers policy in accordance with the Mission Statement, Policies and Procedures at the facility.

Assumes the lead role in the development of a team concept within the facility.

Provides clear direction to the staff through effective interpersonal communication skills.

Provides reinforcement / corrective action, as needed in a timely fashion.

Assumes full responsibility for the establishing of the philosophy and goals of the facility.

Provides effective lines of communication to all departments within the facility.

Establishes philosophy, goals and objectives for the facility.

Maintains open lines of communication between departments and administration.

Interprets and implements Governing Board Policies.

Directs and delegates responsibility for each department's function to appropriate staff members.

Serves as a liaison between the facility, Governing Board and Community Agencies.

Acts as a role model for facility personnel.

Responsible for the recruiting, developing, promoting, evaluating and terminating of all Department Managers.

a.         Provides support, encouragement and corrective discipline as necessary.

b.         Assumes that adequate personnel are hired according to qualifications and area of expertise.

c.         Assures that employees are oriented to their position and receive ongoing in-service education.

d.         Performs yearly written evaluations on all Department Managers.

e.         Maintains a positive image within the community, area hospitals and social service agencies.

f.          Attends civic functions and meetings when feasible.

g.         Provides space within facility for civic groups to meet if possible.

h.         Maintains a positive relationship with family members and significant others.

1.         Addresses issues and concerns in a timely manner.

Productivity Requirements :

Maintains open lines of communication with residents, families, significant others and staff.

Provides support, encouragement and corrective discipline as necessary to all facility personnel.

Maintains positive interaction with facility personnel, residents, families and visitors.

Prioritizes, organizes and utilizes time purposefully to assure completion of duties and responsibilities.

Assures fiscal management within each facility department.

Develops effective network within the community.

Maintains a positive image within the community, area hospitals and social service agencies.

Quality Requirements :

Assures that optimal resident care is carried out by all facility personnel.

Monitors Quality Assurance studies and is supportive of their findings in accordance with the facility.

Acts efficiently and effectively in dealing with quality issues.

Monitors plant management and assures that facility is functional and safe for residents and staff.

Job Knowledge Requirements :

Demonstrates competency in the performance of duties through utilization of appropriate scientific principles and sound clinical judgement.

Responsible for keeping current on long term care policies and procedures and governing fire, safety and disaster plans and practice.

Knowledgeable of Infection Control policy and practice.

Familiarity with Joint Commission standards.

Professional Growth Requirements :

Possess knowledge of current changing trends in the healthcare field.

Participates in continuing education, maintaining required contract hours for re-licensure.

Initiative Requirements :

Performs administrative duties with little supervision.

Actively participates in committee as assigned.

Willing to participate in pilot studies and to adjust to changing trends in long term care.

Willingly assists and supports those working with him / her.

Interpersonal Relations Requirements :

Able to work with other employees.

Demonstrates a positive attitude.

Provides positive emotional support to resident and family.

Always courteous toward resident and public.

Collaborates, communicates, and cooperates as appropriate with other health disciplines in the total care of residents.

Prerequisites :

B.S., A.S., or equivalent degree in the healthcare industry.

M.HA  degree preferred

Current registration as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator.-Massachusetts

Five years or more experience as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator preferred.

Not-for profit setting prefererd.
