What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant 1 position at ODW Logistics?
The Accountant I is responsible for partnering with the Accounting Manager in maintaining and improving all daily and monthly processing requirements for assigned business units. They will manage the monthly close process for all assignments and review financial statements for completeness and accuracy. This position will recommend areas for process improvement and assist with the annual audit process.

Essential Responsibilities
- Process monthly closing and financial reports for assigned companies, audit preliminary results, and report discrepancies to upper leadership
- Oversee month-end close process for assigned business units
- Review accounting and month-end close processes to offer suggested improvements
- Collaborate with business unit operations team to ensure accurate and efficient reporting
- Proactively improve processes and increase efficiencies
- Prepare account reconciliations and communicate financial adjustment requirements (fixed assets and inter-company accounts)
- Develop an understanding of the capital control process and be able to review Capital Expense Request and prepare ROIs, submit and reconcile financing partner’s payment of capital invoices, monitor major repair expenditures and make recommendations
- Cultivate a working knowledge of software systems and fulfill secondary support needs for Business Central, TMW, UKG, Pro, Concur, Symmetry and HighJump as needed
- Mentor and guide Staff Accountant(s) through processes and communications
- All other duties as assigned

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or equivalent education/work experience preferred
- 3 – 5 year(s) of accounting experience preferred
- Previous logistics experience and/or industry knowledge preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, mainly Excel preferred
