How You Will Contribute/Position Summary
The Admissions Coordinator responds to incoming telephone inquiries, oversees subsequent communications, on-call duties, and actively coordinates multiple phases of the admissions process for clients seeking longer-term behavioral health services provided by the Odyssey Eating Disorder Network.
Essential Responsibilities
- Offers empathetic and knowledgeable assistance to individuals seeking behavioral health services, including providing information, answering questions, and ensuring a supportive experience.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills to connect with callers creating trust and understanding during the initial conversation.
- Collects relevant details about the client’s needs, symptoms, and preferences, assessing what services align with the client’s requirements.
- Adheres to predefined call procedures ensuring consistency/efficiency including following up with clients as needed to maintain continuity and quality of service.
- Ensures smooth admissions by effectively communicating with key admissions decision-makers and various stakeholders, coordinating information, addressing concerns, and facilitating collaboration.
- Assists clients in understanding their insurance coverage and financing options including explaining benefits, costs, and payment arrangements.
- Guides clients and their families through treatment choices highlighting the advantages of specific facilities and address any barriers to accessing care.
- Determines appropriate level of care by assessing client’s clinical needs during pre-admission screenings.
- Coordinates tours and admissions by organizing schedules, providing necessary information, and ensuring a smooth transition for clients.
- Delivers exceptional service by remaining well-informed through continuous education and diligent reading of relevant materials.
Qualifications
What We Are Seeking/Education and Experience:
Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years of behavioral healthcare admissions experience. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and familiarity with general psychiatric conditions, eating disorders or working experience in behavioral health treatment settings preferred.
