What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mental Health Nurse Practitioner position at Odyssey Mental Health Care?
Based in Central Indiana, Odyssey Mental Health Care is an aging and mental health care practice serving home-bound and disabled patients in their homes - wherever that may be! Odyssey Mental Health Care provides care in assisted living, independent living, skilled nursing, and senior communities as well as in private residences and group homes throughout the Indianapolis area and surrounding counties. Whether it is dealing with life’s demands and stresses, transitioning to a new living arrangement, or working through the grief process, Odyssey Mental Health Care can provide the high quality, comprehensive care any patient needs in the comfort of their own home.
We are seeking full or part time Nurse Practitioners to join our growing practice! Qualified candidates will possess, or be willing to learn, the following skills and traits:
*Conducts comprehensive evaluations to assess, diagnose and treat the mental health needs of patients.
*Excellent bedside manner focused on building rapport and a relationship with patients and their family.
*Reassuring, listens to and talks with patients and their family members.
*Provides mental health services, education, counseling, and emotional support.
*Issues medication prescriptions in accordance with treatment guidelines, as well as providing patient educations regarding risks, benefits and reasonable outcome expectations.
*Enters patient information and completes required clinical documentation in the electronic medical record.
*Open, clear and concise communication in a positive, patient-centered manner with all sources, from families and facilities (including DON, ADON, management and medical/office staff) to OMHC staff and partners.
*Adheres to OSHA guidelines regarding patient care, disposal of materials, and sterilization of equipment (cold and heat sterilization methods) on a daily basis.
*Responsible for applying proper coding guidelines and indicating appropriate billing codes for services provided to patients
*Ability to travel to patient homes, including navigating stairs, elevators, sidewalks, and unpaved surfaces.
*A willingness to provide care for those unable to get to a standard office setting.
*Ability to work independently on a daily basis.
*Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and organizational skills.
*Ability to use email, the internet and to learn other healthcare related software.
*Self starter attitude with the desire to deliver quality, thoughtful and attentive care.
QUALIFICATIONS:
*NP, preferably board certified (or soon to be) in family, geriatric, or mental health fields.
*Current State professional license, or one has been applied for recently but it waiting on collaboration information so it can be issued.
*Current DEA, or ability to apply for one after the state APRN license is received.
*Valid driver’s license with a good driving history
*Clean Background Check
