What are the responsibilities and job description for the 3D Printing Technician- 1st Shift position at Oerlikon Additive Manufacturing?
We are looking for a 1st shift Technician (7a-3:30p) for our Huntersville, NC facility. Oerlikon Additive Manufacturing (AM) produces high quality components for a variety of industries, including Aerospace, Defense, Oil and Gas, and Automotive Industries. Through the use of metal additive 3D printers, we manufacture complex metal prototypes or series parts rapidly and without any tooling. In this role you will be a critical member of the production team, executing on production order requirements and instructions to manufacture products. Your Responsibilities:
- Setup, operation, and maintenance of the AM sieves and sieving equipment
- Setup, operate, maintain, and change over printers for production orders
- Blending and homogenization of powders
- Control inventory of all powders
- Bottling and distributing powder for production
- Ensure the proper manufacture of AM parts compliant to meet very specific customer requirements.
- Following safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment
- Collaborating with team members to achieve daily production targets
- Keeping work areas clean and organized
Your Profile:
- High School diploma required
- 2-5 years of experience working in a technical capacity with a manufacturing company
- Previous positions as operations technicians, maintenance, or quality
- Ability to work in a team-based collaborative environment where priorities may shift regularly
- Experience in lean manufacturing desired
- Experience in writing standard work processes desired
- The ability to troubleshoot operational issues and relay information to the team is a must
- Self-motivation is a must and the ability to work independently once tasked is required
- Experience working with basic shop tools and hand tools required
- Intermediate level skill with MS Office
- Good verbal and written communication skills required
- Basic ordering and shipping experience
- Good track record of attendance and being on time for work
- Ability to wear a respirator/PAPR for certain tasks
- Ability to climb stairs and step ladders
- Ability to lift 30 lbs
- Ability to operate powered industrial equipment, such as electric pallet jacks, lifts, etc
- Ability to sit or stand as needed to perform essential functions of the position
- In compliance with U.S. Government technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), candidates must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
Desired skills & experience:
- Associates degree in an engineering/business discipline or equivalent/relevant experience
- Experience in Additive Manufacturing or working with metal powders
- Intermediate level skill with 3D CAD software
- Experience working with Magics by Materialise
- Additive Manufacturing hardware specific software
- Experience working with Solid Works or Inventor
- Additive Manufacturing powder bed systems, wire EDM experience
- Basic understanding of machine tools (milling, lathe, drill presses, CNC) and heat treating
- Experience with SAP, Oracle, or other shop floor data management systems
