The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description • Provide legal support and advice to program units within the Office of Cannabis Management, such as Licensing and Compliance. • Draft and review proposed legislation and regulations.• Prepare and present cases at administrative proceedings by preparing opening statements and summations, arguing motions, examining witnesses, consulting with parties to the proceeding, examining evidence, preparing briefs, negotiating settlement, preparing appeals, and advising superiors.• Ensure the agency’s compliance with the Freedom of Information Law• Assist the agency’s Ethics Officer and Ethics Counsel with ensuring agency compliance with training and reporting requirements under the Public Officers Law. • Work with the Office of the Attorney General with respect to litigation involving the Cannabis Control Board and Office of Cannabis Management.• Provide legal support and advice to the administrative units within the Office of Cannabis Management on matters such as human resources and procurement.• Perform other duties and special projects as required.
The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have been admitted to the New York State Bar and must have had two years of experience in the practice of law subsequent to admission to the Bar.
