Child Welfare Permanency Supervisor for the Adoption unit oversees Child Welfare Permanency Workers who are responsible for case management of WV foster children with a permanency goal of adoption and for the finalization of those adoptions. The supervisor must ensure all BSS, state, and federal policies are followed while ensuring the best interest of the children transferring from DoHS legal control and responsibility to that of their forever family.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Oversight of case management activities of adoption staff during and after work hours to ensure appropriate visitation, service provision, MDT and court appearances, documentation both for BSS and the court system, completion of thorough adoption packets for legal counsel hired by the adoptive family, and other relevant casework that falls within BSS policies and legal requirements. Oversight includes making assignments, monitoring timelines, review and approval of documentation, coordinating with stakeholders, ensuring transfer of finalized cases to the state office, and similar functions.Completion, approval, and/or submission of administrative tasks, including leave requests, attendance reports (Kronos), overtime requests, travel reimbursement requests, employee performance evaluations, employee discipline and performance improvement plans.Review CPS cases and conduct case transfer staffings for cases coming to the adoption unit, develop transfer plans, and educate district supervisors on the requirements necessary for transfer.Provision of support, guidance, and case consultation for adoption staff through monthly unit meetings, individual conferences for reflective supervision, encouraging staff morale, coaching, and engaging in staff development to ensure a productive and satisfied work unit.Provision of support, guidance, and case consultation for adoption staff through monthly unit meetings, individual conferences for reflective supervision, encouraging staff morale, coaching, and engaging in staff development to ensure a productive and satisfied work unit.Monitor existing reports, as well as, create and manage hand counts for worker caseloads, adoption statuses, and provide such reports to upper management.Travel for provision of supervision and participation in meetings, court, MDTs, etc. that could be in any county of the state.Applicants must possess a valid WV driver’s license, and reliable transportation. Applicants also must have strong communication skills, both oral and written, and maintain detailed case records and extensive documentation. Overtime hours and frequent travel may be required.
