BASIC FUNCTION
Serve as a technical resource to ensure performance, security, and reliability of Enterprise Microsoft 365 Infrastructure. This position works with the Enterprise Infrastructure and Security teams to design, implement and support the lifecycle of products provided via the systems Microsoft 365 licensing. Ensures the system runs smoothly, securely, and effectively. Must be able to support cloud-based and on-premise systems and solutions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide design, implementation and support for Microsoft 365 products such as Teams, Exchange Online, SharePoint, etc.)
- Creates and manages user accounts, including multifactor authentication (MFA) and user roles and permissions
- Resolve technical issues; troubleshoot systemic problems related to user accounts, permissions, application errors and connectivity.
- Assist Security and legal teams on eDiscovery and other legal functions as they relate to the use of Microsoft 365.
- Provide support for local Active Directory synchronization with Entra.
- Responsible for building, configuring, maintaining, and documenting IT infrastructure, including third-party integrations.
- Recognize automation opportunities within M365 and create and maintain script to take advantage of these opportunities.
- Participate with system IT governance and similar groups on AI initiatives.
- Work with Systems team to maintain local (Windows Servers) and cloud Microsoft based resources.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Direct supervision received from the Director of Enterprise IT Infrastructure in the IT Shared Services division.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s degree in a computer or other appropriate discipline and three to five years related experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Knowledge:
- Experience with Windows and other common operating systems
- Experience with OS security products (i.e. Firewalls and Antivirus)
- Experience installing and configuring server-based software
- Experience and success in a team environment
- Experience teaching others in a formal or informal environment is desirable
- Experience with deploying Microsoft 365 applications such as Teams, Purview, SharePoint.
- Microsoft certifications highly desirable
Skills:
- Knowledge and experience with Windows operating systems
- Knowledge and experience managing a dynamic, multi-platform server environment
- Experience with system automation, emphasis on the use of PowerShell
- Experience with the use of Microsoft 365 administrator tools and consoles
- Knowledge of adopting and scaling cloud-based services such as Microsoft 365
- Excellent communication skills
Abilities:
- Evidence of strong planning and project management/implementation skills
- Evidence of mentoring skills
- Demonstrated ability to support a diverse community and promote diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
Location: This position can reside on any VSC campus/site and hybrid work options are available. Travel to campus at times will be required.
This position is dependent on the availability of designated transformation or systems project funding. The position is funded for at least three years.
