Job description
The qualified candidate will support Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorneys by providing legal assistance and support services for multiple attorneys. Applicants should have a positive attitude, be willing to work independently without close supervision, be attentive to details, demonstrate organizational and communication skills, written and verbal as well as computer skills, and must be able to work well under pressure while maintaining proper time management.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist prosecutor with new case screening and grand jury preparation
- Collect files from law enforcement agencies
- Conduct criminal history research and provide penalty phase testimony
- Examine, prepare, and process legal documents using case management software
- Assist prosecutor with trial preparation
- Assist prosecutor when victim advocate is unavailable
- Perform administrative duties such as answering phone calls, updating case management system, processing mail, and keeping case files organized so all documents are readily accessible

Education Requirement
- Degree in paralegal studies or criminal justice
Employees of the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney shall reside in the Commonwealth of Kentucky as a condition of employment. Any non-resident shall be required to make a good faith effort to move into the Commonwealth of Kentucky within sixty (60) days of their date of hire.
