What are the responsibilities and job description for the COUNTY VICTIM - WITNESS COORDINATOR position at OFFICE OF THE COUNTY PROSECUTOR?
Individual will generally be responsible for providing services to victims and witnesses involved in the prosecution of a criminal case including, but not limited to: Crisis intervention and counseling; referrals for other needed services; orientation to the criminal justice system; case status information; victim/witness transportation; child care; assistance with Violent Crimes Compensation Board claims; assistance with property return; restitution and other forms of financial entitlements; court accompaniment; and victim impact statements.
Individual will also be responsible for the following special duties as a Coordinator: Grant preparation and quarterly reporting; provide direct and on-going supervision to victim-witness advocacy staff; policy preparation; case distribution; and liaise with other County Coordinators.
Requirements:
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree involving a major course of study in the social sciences or criminal justice.
Experience: Two (2) years of professional experience involved in providing counseling, guidance and/or advice to individuals involved with the criminal justice system, or in providing counseling and guidance to individuals and/or families and/or groups in coping with social and/or emotional and/or psychological and/or behavioral problems with which they are confronted.
