Step into the dynamic role of Transit Ambassador (Part-Time), where you will immerse yourself with our riders and become a vital, visible, and welcoming presence onboard the TRAXtrain. As a Transit Ambassador you join our UTA eco-system of support by engaging customers face-to-face with a friendly and upbeat attitude the public in getting to where they need to go. As the Transit Ambassador, you will:
- Engage with riders actively throughout an entire shift
- Perform platform checks periodically during shifts
- Work in teams of two to three
- Provide a supportive presence onboard the TRAX train, including:
- Providing information
- Offering resources
- Answering customer questions
- Assist a variety of people in diverse and sometimes challenging circumstances
- Provide customers with up-to-date information about Utah Transit Authority (UTA) service
- Work in varied conditions, with potential exposure to extreme weather
- Experience in customer service or related roles providing face-to-face information with the ability to solve problems and resolve customer inquiries, working with underrepresented communities.
- Training in CPR and emergency preparedness is a plus.
- Bi-lingual (Spanish or other) (in addition to English).
- Experience working with communities experiencing homelessness, addiction, or at-risk categories.
- Trauma-informed skills
- High school diploma or equivalent. Successfully complete a required training program (provided).
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Drivers license preferred but not required.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and customer service skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- De-escalation skills.
- Tracking/recording-keeping.
- Communicate with supervisors, lead, UTA team members, and customers; maintain good customer relations in person, over the phone and radio.
- Read and understand training materials, employee expectations, operating manuals, and operating and safety rules and directives.
- Work with shift supervisor and lead to accomplish daily priorities.
- Work in teams of 2-3
- Perform the physical requirements of the job including continuous walking and carrying supplies.
- Climb stairways or navigate accessibility features without difficulty.
