Position Summary
The EHS Engineer will report directly to the Senior EHS Manager and provide support for the Cable and the NWS Plant located in Carrollton, GA. The primary purpose of this role is to identify, eliminate, or control hazardous conditions arising from human error and equipment operations, thereby preventing injuries and property damage while fostering an environmentally responsible workplace. EDUCATION And EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene, engineering, or related fields with a focus on EHS, or equivalent experience in EHS roles may be considered.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, or substantial relevant experience.
- Proven experience in the application of EHS programs and practices.
- Ability to develop, update, and administer effective EHS programs.
- Strong motivational and training skills influence behavioral change among employees.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven ability to provide technical support and conduct EHS training across various departments.
- Experience managing EHS meetings and ensuring follow-up on action items.
- Knowledge of project completion and reporting for regulatory agencies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- CIH or CSP certification.
- Six Sigma (Black Belt or Green Belt) a plus
- Strategically plan, direct, and promote EHS programs to ensure a safe and environmentally friendly workplace in compliance with regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with technical safety and environmental regulations.
- Develop, update, and implement written EHS procedures and policies for new processes, including managing industrial hygiene programs, process safety, machine safety, lockout/tagout procedures, powered industrial truck safety, overhead crane safety, and machine guarding.
- Implement engineering controls and safety initiatives at both locations.
- Develop and maintain the emergency management plan and act as the Emergency Coordinator, preparing for and managing responses to natural disasters, fires, and chemical spills.
- Lead and take ownership of Gemba Walks, collaborating with other business units, assigning actions, and ensuring follow-up on those actions.
- Collaborate with maintenance, warehouse, process engineers, operations supervisors, quality supervisors, etc., to develop and implement cross-functional safety initiatives that align with industry best practices.
- Manage records and schedule technical safety training sessions, providing EHS technical support and training to all departments.
- Assist with incident investigations and root cause analysis, ensuring all findings are documented and action items are tracked.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes, contributing to the development and updating of EHS plans, programs, and policies.
- Strong technical background and analytical skills in industrial hygiene, process safety, and machine safety standards.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
