Job Summary
The selected candidates will work under the guidance of senior engineers and project leaders, in their designated departments, on various projects for energy efficiency and safety within a manufacturing environment.

Education Requirements
Candidate must be enrolled full-time in a college or university with a safety, mechanical or related engineering course of study. The ideal candidate will be in their junior or senior year of school.
Completed coursework in mechanical ventilation design, electrical safety, chemical safety/industrial hygiene, and or maintenance engineering a plus.
Experience
This is an entry-level internship position. Computer skills and experience using Microsoft Windows applications necessary.

Energy Efficiency Project Opportunities
- Distributed compressed air cost savings
- Electricity metering near or at points of use, motors, etc., integrated into Industry 4.0
- Natural gas metering modification
- Prevention of uncontrolled/ unrecognized water discharge from cooling tower sump
- Evaluate cost benefits of roof replacement design alternatives
- Recommend possible solar energy collection system for the replacement roof
- Support administration of Avon’s Laser Safety Program
- Prepare lock-out/tag-out procedures and audit same for conformance to procedures where present.
- Prepare a written report regarding: HVAC Testing, Air Balancing, and RTU/AHU decontamination (as needed) based on Facilities Dept inspections, HVAC performance data, and all relevant incident reports. Confirm intake-screens are in place and filters are being changed per schedule. Confirm no standing water/ no visible signs of slime/mold in RTUs. Review adequacy of HVAC and process ventilation performance and O&M practices.
- Support updating Safety Data Sheet database and help flag for targeted restricted substances.
- Work with EHS team to document various IH monitoring status in the facility (noise, airborne contaminants).
- Work with EHS team to draft a Workplace Chemical Protection Program for methylene chloride use in the coating production lab.
