The Role
We are seeking a highly organised and experienced Studio Manager / Senior Booker to oversee the operations of our studio in downtown Los Angeles. This role requires skills to manage a team of 2-3 shoot executives and assistants, ensuring the efficient execution of studio activities and projects.
Responsibilities
Management:
- You will lead a team of 2-3 shoot executives and assistants, maintaining high standards of performance and professionalism.
- Implement and enforce company policies related to vacation, sickness, timekeeping, and employee expenses within the studio team.
- Manage the studio budget for talent, hair and makeup, photographers, and styling products, maintaining meticulous records of invoices, purchase orders, and receipts/returns.
- Negotiate rates with freelancers, agents, and suppliers, adhering to strict budget guidelines.
- Utilize support from a UK-based People and Culture team to access additional management and leadership training.
- Cultivate a positive and performance-driven team environment capable of supporting high-intensity E-commerce, social, and campaign shoots throughout the year.
- Manage a quarterly social budget for the broader LA-based team (8-10 people), organizing social events to foster team cohesion.
- Develop individual team members through personalized development plans and conduct regular one-on-one meetings to support their growth.
- Ensure the studio environment is orderly and clean to uphold professional standards.
- Procure and manage office supplies, oversee cleaner/garbage schedules, and ensure timely payment of utility bills.
- Handle new starter equipment requests and assist in sourcing/ordering equipment as needed by the team.
- Coordinate and execute quarterly sample sales to clear out old stock and optimize space usage.
- Coordinate all bookings for shoots and campaigns, including models, locations, and glam teams approved by creatives.
- Maintain and update rate records using Airtable, and manage booking confirmations/holds through Trello.
- Organize necessary insurance and permits as required for studio operations.
- Proven experience (5 years) in studio management, preferably within the photography or creative industry.
- Experience in supervising and developing a team.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to negotiate effectively and manage budgets efficiently.
- Prior experience with permitting and insurance COI requests desirable.
- Salary: $100,000 -$125,000
