Your Opportunity
Ohana Design & Build is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing Design Build team in Park City, UT. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles, passion for the construction and interior design industry, and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously. As a Senior Accountant, you will report directly to the Financial Controller and play a key role in managing the company’s accounting functions.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing a variety of key accounting functions, including financial reporting, reconciliation, invoice processing, and project-related accounting activities. The Senior Accountant will ensure that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and processed in compliance with company policies and accounting standards. This position will involve close collaboration with project managers and other departments to ensure smooth financial operations across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities
In the role of Senior Accountant, specifically you will:
· Financial Reporting & Reconciliation:
Oversee the preparation and review of monthly financial reports for various projects and accounts. Ensure the accuracy of the general ledger, applying appropriate entries and reconciling discrepancies. Manage the reconciliation of corporate accounts and project-related financial activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
· Invoice & Payment Processing:
Manage the timely processing of invoices, ensuring that they are correctly documented and approved. Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure the proper application of payments and oversee the preparation of payment schedules for various vendors and subcontractors.
· Project Accounting Management:
Work closely with project managers to track and report on project costs, including supervision, insurance, and worker's compensation. Review and update the status of project revenues, expenditures, and account balances, and ensure accurate invoicing based on project milestones.
· Draw Processing & Fund Management:
Oversee the preparation and processing of project draw requests, ensuring accurate calculation and timely submission. Manage the release of funds to vendors and subcontractors, maintaining a close watch on cash flow and coordinating approvals for payments.
· Monthly Close & Compliance:
Lead the monthly close process, ensuring all necessary journal entries and reconciliations are completed on time. Coordinate with the finance team to ensure that all financial data is captured accurately and assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with accounting standards.
· Collaboration & Team Coordination:
Collaborate with internal teams, including project managers, department heads, and other accounting staff, to resolve any financial discrepancies and ensure alignment across departments. Provide ongoing support to the leadership team for financial decision-making and reporting.
· Continuous Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and enhance financial reporting systems. Contribute to the development and implementation of improved accounting procedures and best practices across the department.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
· Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with a strong background in project-based accounting and financial reporting.
· Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks Online, Studio Designer, Bill.com, or similar platforms).
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
· Strong understanding of accounting principles, including general ledger management, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
· High attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
· Proven ability to lead a team, provide guidance, and foster collaboration within a department.
