The Health Center Program’s model provides high quality, comprehensive care, eliminates barriers and health disparities, and enables communities to shape their own healthcare journey. OACHC is the primary source for training and technical assistance (T/TA) for all 60 of Ohio’s Community Health Centers.
Under the direction and leadership of the Director of Policy and Public Affairs, the Advocacy Communications Coordinator (ACC) leads efforts to achieve state and federal advocacy goals through communication plans, digital advocacy, event coordination and outreach.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Communications, Political Science, Public Relations, or related field. At least 2 years’ relevant experience is required with demonstrated outcomes-based achievements. Strong preference given to candidates with experience with Community Health Centers or membership associations. Experience with creative tools and the willingness to learn new systems is highly desirable.

- Proficiency in designing materials and crafting content for digital and print platforms.

- Ability to travel nationally and around the state of Ohio.
- Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Applications, and online resources.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Campaign Development & Execution: Design and lead advocacy and community engagement campaigns, including grassroots mobilization and digital outreach, to achieve state and federal advocacy goals.
- Strategic Communication: Create and implement communication plans to support legislative priorities, including content for email, social media, publications, and advocacy action alerts.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Recruit and empower Health Center teams, board members, patients, and stakeholders to actively participate in advocacy efforts.
- Digital Advocacy: Manage and optimize the advocacy platform, leveraging digital tools to increase outreach and measure effectiveness.
- Design & Marketing: Design, edit, and produce persuasive materials tailored to diverse audiences. Lead social media campaigns to amplify advocacy efforts.
- Public Relations: Collaborate with leadership on external communications, including talking points, one-pagers, press items
- Community Partnerships: Build strategic partnerships to enhance the visibility of the organization and advance advocacy goals.
- Event Coordination: Support advocacy-related events, including National Health Center Week, legislative visits, and advocacy days at the Statehouse and Capitol Hill.
- Outreach and Enrollment: Support leadership and health centers on outreach and enrollment policy and issues
- Perform related responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Policy and Public Affairs
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical ability to continuously stoop, kneel, bend, use a computer and perform light lifting.
