Description
Job Summary: The Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner (NP) is responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients with gastrointestinal disorders. This role includes performing assessments, diagnosing conditions, and implementing treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough health assessments, including obtaining medical histories and performing physical examinations.
- Diagnosis and Treatment: Evaluate and diagnose gastrointestinal disorders, develop treatment plans, and initiate therapeutic interventions.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and families about gastrointestinal health, treatment options, and lifestyle modifications.
- Follow-Up Care: Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary; ensure continuity of care.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with regulatory and institutional policies.
- Research and Education: Stay current with advancements in gastroenterology and participate in educational activities for staff and patients.
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program.
- Licensure: Current Nurse Practitioner licensure in the state of Kentucky
- Experience: Minimum 1 years of experience in gastroenterology or a related field preferred.
- Skills: Strong clinical assessment skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR).
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and lift patients as necessary. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
