The Office of Fiscal and Monitoring Services (OFMS) Fiscal Services Division is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring all the Agency's budget activities. This encompasses the biennial budget process, annual budget implementation, and projecting federal budget estimates. The Division is also responsible for the management of the Agency's revenue, disbursements and financial obligations as well as performing daily federal cash draws, reconciles and reports on federal grant status. What You’ll Do
In this position, you will be assigned to the Bureau of Budget & Cost Management. The Bureau of Budget & Cost Management is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the agency’s budget activities. This encompasses the biennial budget process, annual budget implementation, and federal budget estimates, as well as maintaining the agency's account coding structure activities.
Day-to-day You Will
- Assist with the budget lifecycle for an assigned area within ODJFS.
- Review the ODJFS budget for assigned office area.
- Review purchase orders.
- Generate reports, charts, and tables in Excel.
- Prepare and develop financial reports containing analysis.
- Craft, and present data in terms that are simple and easy to understand.
- Analyze data, and tailor your report/findings for different audiences.
- Compare actual expenditures against estimated expenditures.
- Verify expenditures are within appropriate budget guidelines.
- Ad-hoc research.
- Passion for public service.
- Graduate level or undergraduate senior
- Majors: Public policy, political science, business, public administration, or related
- Ready to gain in-depth knowledge about ODJFS services and its budget cycle.
- Summer 2025: 8 – 16 hours/week minimum. Hours must be worked M-F between 8AM – 5PM.
- Hours must be worked onsite at 30 E. Broad St. Columbus, OH. 43215
The Ideal Candidate, At Minimum, Must Have The Following
- Currently be enrolled in an accredited college or university and maintain good academic standing;
- Provide proof of academic enrollment (copy of current transcript) by attaching to your application
