Under supervision in the Engineering Section, students will receive training in PC based and mainframe CADD systems (e.g. MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer); as well as various software packages used by the District. Collect and reviews roadway, culver, and bridge field data required for the preparation of highway construction plans. Assists project manager or designer with the design, development, and review of various portions of highway construction plans. Assists project manager or designer with the design, development, and review of various portions of highway construction plans. Performs miscellaneous duties to facilitate operational efficiency of work unit (e.g. research plans and records; assists with necessary record keeping; maintains accurate data of work performed; organizes materials and complies information to assist in report preparation; attends training).
Operates state vehicle to travel to construction projects, special events, county garages, & other related sites within the district. Performs miscellaneous duties to facilitate the operational efficiency of the work unit (e.g., answers telephone & takes messages; provides information about ODOT activities &/or programs by responding to inquires received by telephone, e-mail, develops presentations for use by Public Information Officer or other staff using computer & related software (e.g., Microsoft PowerPoint)).
This is a temporary position involving various duties that will either supplement the student's major field of study and/or provide experience that is useful addition to the student's education and meaningful preparation for future professional employment.
