Ohio EPA wants you to be our newest environmental specialist with the Division of Air Pollution Control (DAPC) at our Groveport Field Office (GFO) in Franklin County.

We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented individual with mad electronics and mechanics skills to assist DAPC with maintaining its fleet of ambient air monitoring equipment. These monitors are used throughout Ohio to measure air pollutants to ensure we are meeting air quality standards to protect public health.
In this position you’ll help maintain and calibrate air monitoring equipment to check units for proper performance within Ohio’s air monitoring network. Where units are not operating correctly, you’ll perform on-site and in-lab repairs.
You’ll assist in the selection, evaluation, and procurement of air monitoring equipment and examine reported air quality data daily to look for potential issues to avoid equipment downtime. To allow for efficient and quick repairs, you’ll keep the parts and equipment inventory organized and well-stocked to keep monitor downtime to a minimum.
You’ll assist a network of site operators around the state with troubleshooting equipment issues. You’ll assist with providing topical training, guidance, and support to Ohio EPA district offices and local air quality agencies.
Here are those key tasks.
4 yrs. trg. or 4 yrs. exp. in position involving geology or hydrology, engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science &/or other comparable physical or health science field, earth science &/or urban & regional planning, experience must be commensurate with duties to be assigned.

- Review daily monitoring data to identify potential issues.
- Keep an organized and adequate inventory of repair parts and equipment.
- Assist site operators with troubleshooting equipment issues.
4 yrs. trg. or 4 yrs. exp. in position involving geology or hydrology, engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science &/or other comparable physical or health science field, earth science &/or urban & regional planning, experience must be commensurate with duties to be assigned.
- Or baccalaureate degree in engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science, earth science &/or urban & regional planning, geology or other comparable physical or health science field.
- Or positions involved in providing financial, technical & administrative assistance for planning, design & implementation of environmental infrastructure & pollution abatement, & prevention projects, applicants must have completed undergraduate core coursework in business/public administration, public relations/marketing, political science or communications, or have 4 yrs. exp. in position involving public contact to explain policies, procedures & programs of agency, writing of promotional &/or explanatory publications & materials, budgeting, contract administration & working with others on team projects. Note: For all positions engaged in field work, applicants must be able to provide own transportation. New employees in EPA's solid waste program, excluding those in the solid waste planning unit, must obtain a sanitarian-in-training certificate during their probationary period.

- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
