What We Need YOU To Do
The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to join our team as an environmental specialist with the Division of Drinking and Ground Waters (DDAGW) at our downtown Columbus office.
We need safe drinking water every day. You will help make that happen!
We’re looking for a sharp, detail-oriented team member to assist DDAGW with implementing its asset management programs and requirements. This includes developing guidance, policies, and operating procedures and providing outreach and training events. You’ll develop a standard operating procedure for reviewing asset management programs and assist other agency divisions with integrating asset management into their programs.
You’ll assist Public Water Systems (PWS) by reviewing their asset management programs and conducting site visits to ensure compliance with program requirements and compliance schedules.
With your subject expertise, you’ll review the financial capacity of PWSs to implement proposed infrastructure improvements. You’ll coordinate with other state agencies using asset management to integrate drinking water projects into other infrastructure programs to increase efficiencies on simultaneous construction projects.
You’ll promote implementation of asset management programs to PWSs and other local decision makers and provide technical expertise for capital improvement projects to increase efficiencies and planning for comprehensive and sustainable infrastructure.

- Or baccalaureate degree in engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science, earth science &/or urban & regional planning, geology or other comparable physical or health science field.
- Or positions involved in providing financial, technical & administrative assistance for planning, design & implementation of environmental infrastructure & pollution abatement, & prevention projects, applicants must have completed undergraduate core coursework in business/public administration, public relations/marketing, political science or communications, or have 4 yrs. exp. in position involving public contact to explain policies, procedures & programs of agency, writing of promotional &/or explanatory publications & materials, budgeting, contract administration & working with others on team projects. Note: For all positions engaged in field work, applicants must be able to provide own transportation. New employees in EPA's solid waste program, excluding those in the solid waste planning unit, must obtain a sanitarian-in-training certificate during their probationary period.
- Or 12 mos. exp. as Environmental Specialist 1, 85861.
- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
