The primary function of the Occupational Therapist is to plan, organize, develop, and direct Occupational Therapy Services by current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, and as may be directed by the administrator, to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times.
Occupational Therapist Job Duties:
· Assists in developing occupational therapy plans for individual residents in coordination and conjunction with the resident assessment (MDS).
- Review the occupational therapy requirements of each resident admitted to the facility and assist the attending physician in planning for the resident's care.
- Interview residents to determine the type of treatment and schedule therapy.
- Select rehabilitative and therapeutic activities and exercises based on residents' medical and social history.
- Plans develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and directs occupational therapy and its programs and activities.
- Develops and maintains occupational therapy standards.
- Interprets occupational therapy policies and procedures to personnel, residents, family members.
- Determines the staffing needs of the occupational therapy department necessary to meet the needs of the residents.
Occupational Therapist Qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from an accredited college or university.
- Holds current license and/or registration in the state of Ohio (as applicable).
- Must have training in rehabilitative and restorative therapy practices.
