What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at Ohio Truck Sales?
Seeking a Controller to oversee its Financial / Accounting activities for multiple businesses. The Controller is an integral part of the Management Team, reporting to the CFO. Candidate must be a motivated self-starter and have a strong ability to define, execute, and measure key deliverables. Key functions include – accountable for general ledger, timely month end close, develop & enforce internal controls, compliance to financial standards & regulations, oversee treasury & cashflow projections, FP&A function, and general continuous improvement drive across the entire business. Manufacturing experience in a midsize or larger environment is preferred. This individual will manage a team of 2 individuals and provide oversight for all areas of accounting along with assist CFO in other departments including HR, Procurement / Supply Chain, Legal, and IT.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Job Functions :
- Maintains the company’s financial principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives.
- Ensures the integrity of the financial data; identify potential areas of financial risk and opportunities to support growth while maximizing profit margins.
- Preparation and reporting of consolidated financial statements - timely and accurately with analysis. Review and approve all journal entries, reconciliation with appropriate documentation.
- Oversee Treasury Management activities and produce cashflow projections
- Establish procedures and internal controls to ensure compliance with all relevant government and industry legislation and regulations. Experience with local / state taxes, tax planning, and workers compensation.
- Manages the department staff including training, performance management, and coaching.
- Manages the annual budgeting process and monthly / quarterly reporting and communication to stakeholders.
- Develop and optimize vendor relationships & contracts, bring attention to the Management Team any unsatisfactory issues.
- Strengthen the FP&A function by analyzing production costs and improving job costing process.
- Optimizing relationship with vendors, lenders, government agencies, and external legal, accounting, and professional service providers – strengthen partnership.
- Streamline systems and processes continuously improve NetSuite application across companies and departmental users.
- Oversee supply chain / procurement function, inventory, and cycle counts.
- Oversee Payroll functions, Annual Audits, Benefit renewals, Credit cards (Expensify), contract renewals.
- Continuously improve best practice of NetSuite and supporting system integrations & software with overall business.
