What You Will Contribute to OHM Advisors
As the Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining financial procedures and complying with local, state, and federal laws as well as internal accounting processes. You will work with the Controller on month-end, quarterly and year-end close processes and financial reporting. Additionally, you will help maintain and review the general ledger for accuracy before preparing reports that will assist senior management in making decisions about upcoming projects or years budgets.
Your Responsibilities
General Accounting:
- Prepare daily deposits for bank upload/remote processing and scan remittance information for posting
- Run monthly revenue recognition process and import for CPFF accrual
- Prepare paperwork for subcontractor invoices for weekly check run
- Reconcile monthly bank statements
- Post month-end and quarterly journal entries to the general journal
- Monitor and resolve bank issues including fee anomalies and check differences
- Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities
- Respond to information request and assist with audits
- Process and prepare annual 1099s
- Process use tax payments to appropriate states
- Complete credit applications
- Assist with implementing and maintaining internal controls and procedures
- Assist with year-end closings
Payroll & 401k:
- Review by-weekly and year-end payrolls
- Post and reconcile bi-weekly payroll journal entry
- Prepare yearend worksheets sheet for increases and bonuses
- Run labor distribution for bi-weekly payroll and reconcile
- Review file from 401k provider, reconcile to payroll and fund individual 401k accounts
- Process Sub-Pay (when needed)
Reconciliation:
- Reconcile all benefit statements monthly to payroll system and inform HR of discrepancies
- Correct discrepancies between geographic/discipline overhead accounts
- Reconciliation of benefit fixed amounts between payroll and HR systems
Requirements
Education, Experience, & Licensure:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting or related experience
- Must be proficient in basic office software applications needed to perform the role (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.)- strong excel skills preferred
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Additional Skills:
- Must be highly organized, detail oriented and possess strong analytical skills
- Possesses strong critical thinking, excellent problem solving and efficient workload management
