BUYER II

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK

In our organization, the Buyer II has a critical and challenging role in helping achieve innovation and meeting our commitments by planning, coordinating, and controlling internal OSI-OKC Piper processes to ensure our required demand of manufactured and purchased items supplied by our outside vendor base are completed properly and in a timely fashion to support OSI-OKC Piper’s production goals.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communicate with suppliers to obtain product or service information to include but not limited to cost, availability, and delivery schedule.
  • Negotiate with outside suppliers regarding pricing and delivery timelines to ensure processes are completed timely and within budgeted targets.
  • Select the appropriate products to purchase based on approved functionality, availability, and cost to ensure products are delivered to meet OSI-OKC Piper production schedule needs.
  • Plan and coordinate the issuing of Purchase Orders (PO) to suppliers to achieve and maintain OSI-OKC Piper’s established Vendor On-time delivery performance rate.
  • Responsible for timely execution of internal processes and procedures to ensure the purchasing process is completed as needed to maintain the OSI-OKC Piper Production Schedule.
  • Perform all tasks as required of a Safety Sensitive position.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
  • Facilitate multiple OSI-OKC Piper inputs to maintain the smooth flow of parts to our outside suppliers.
  • Responsible for running shortage reports and open order reports to recognize demand and action required.
  • Routinely visit with local suppliers to maintain a positive relationship.
  • Effectively and efficiently use time to safely perform duties.
  • Complete all paperwork in required manner and time limit.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn to produce new products, use new procedures, and embrace and support change.
  • Follow and support established HSE programs.
  • Report any unsafe situations to appropriate Management Team member if necessary.
  • All other duties or tasks as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Ability to read and understand drawings, material specifications and industry related specifications.
  • Persuasive communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to network and deal with both internal and external customers.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to establish and maintain constructive working relationships with people.
  • Strong problem-solving and analysis skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects daily in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to speak, write and read English.
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team on a broad variety of projects.
  • Willingness to work additional hours to meet tight deadlines.

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of experience in a support role. Preferably in a fast-paced manufacturing environment or procurement role.

OR

      • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
      • Seven (7) years of experience in a support role in a fast-paced manufacturing environment or related field.
  • Must obtain and maintain Authorized Driver status as defined by the Oil States Company Vehicles and Drivers policy.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
  • Extended sitting.
  • Periodic walking and/or standing.

Tools and Equipment Used

  • Frequent use of computer equipment to include but not limited to laptop computer, monitors, keyboard, mouse, scanner, and printer.
  • Frequent use of company designated software programs to include but not limited to ERP, employee time tracking software, and office productivity software packages.
  • Periodic need to drive company vehicles or personal vehicles for business purposes.

Quality/Customer Service Implications

  • Directly impacts workplace safety through active participation in OSI-OKC Piper HSE programs and safe work practices.
  • Indirectly impacts quality of product, customer satisfaction, and on-time delivery through identification and purchase of appropriate components.
  • Indirectly impacts quality of product, customer satisfaction, and on-time delivery through identification of appropriate vendors to supply purchased components in accordance with requested delivery times.

Safety Sensitive Position

This position is designated as a Safety Sensitive Position as defined by the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act.
