What are the responsibilities and job description for the Application Engineer position at Oiles America Corporation?
The application engineer is responsible for addressing all product engineering related issues of a customer account. This support begins at the customer inquiry stage and continues through production. This also includes support to the manufacturing operation to address any product design related issues.
III. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Communicate with customers to obtain necessary application information.
- Review customer drawings/information for correct application and feasibility.
- Create basic 3D CAD models and proposal drawings.
- Review customer specifications and performance criteria to ensure Oiles product compliance.
- Responsible to track monitor and manage customer related Engineering activities from initial contact to production launch.
- Implement designs and materials to support new and existing applications.
- Communicate with manufacturing to ensure that the bearing design will meet production requirements.
- Ensure product testing is accomplished in direct support of project activities.
- Initiate DVP&Rs, Design reviews and Design FMEAs in direct support of IATF 16949 requirements.
- Coordinate and initiate samples with sales, manufacturing and engineering personnel in supporting program activities and requirements.
- Coordinate this activity with Sales to address any issues related to cost, timing, etc.
- Support Sales and Manufacturing during the launch and production stages.
- Other Assignments as directed by management.
- Work within a Cross-functional Team that includes Sales, Application Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Program Management, Scheduling and others to support customer product needs.
- IV. QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Direct experience with automotive steering and suspension systems preferred.
- Three to five years engineering experience in the automotive industry.
- Working Knowledge with CAD/3D modeling. Proficient with drafting, dimensioning, and critical tolerances.
- Effective documentation, communication and organizational skills.
- Required to travel to customer locations for on-site meetings. Most travel will be domestic some International Travel may be required.
- Ability to effectively respond to sensitive customer inquiries and complaints.
- Must be detail oriented and able to work with little supervision
