What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manufacturing Engineer position at Oiles America Corporation?
The Manufacturing Engineer will provide Oiles America with the technical knowledge to continually improve processes and productivity. Support quote opportunities and new launch programs, including tooling design and development for fabrication and assembly. Implement plans in support of management goals and objectives. Work closely with manufacturing to establish robust equipment and tool solutions, meeting all quality and safety objectives.
Functions & Essential Duties
Manufacturing Support
Identify key bottlenecks/waste and promote system improvements that directly improve product cost and production efficiency.
Investigate, recommend and implement new processes, technology and
equipment for continual improvements and future growth of product lines.
Vital member of Kaizen events to increase productivity, reduce downtime and eliminate scrap and wasted movements
Identify, direct and follow through on specific requirements in support of APQP
activities through direct action and coordination.
Implement specific process plans for production lines, provide associated detailed planning and bill of materials in support of product processing.
Administrative
Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets
Responsible for ensuring BOMs are properly set-up
Responsible for completion of the PFMEA for new products.
Support department on quotes and samples as required
Prepare, submit and present reports as required
General Engineering & Design
Develop specifications for new product manufacturing systems
Conceptualize and implement new production equipment
Perform investigations to determine root cause, develop countermeasures, modify procedures and provide training to reduce or eliminate risks.
Manage multiple projects involving various aspects of production and maintenance
Design on Solid Works and AutoCAD as necessary
Authority to stop production, if necessary, to correct a quality problem when involved in quality functions related to the production process.
Education or Required Experience
4-year engineering degree (prefer ME or IE)
(relative experience may be considered in lieu of education)
Automotive experience preferred
Lean manufacturing/Six Sigma/TPS experience preferred
Some Tool fabrication and/or design experience preferred
Skills
Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
Must have the ability to read, write and understand English in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication to accomplish responsibilities and tasks
Ability to work in a team environment
Prefer three years experience in a manufacturing environment
CAD and 3D modeling experience, Solid Works preferred
Project Management skills
Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Project)
Physical Requirements

ability to hear buzzers, horns, and/or warning signals emitted by production equipment or alarms
Safety
Ensure all equipment and tooling meet safety and regulatory requirements
Develop lock out tag out procedures for new or existing equipment as needed
Adhere to all company safety policies and practices
