GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
Provides information and assistance to outbound and inbound passengers and visitors to ensure the best in experience and first-class customer service.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
Education, Training, and Experience: High school diploma or GED supplemented by a minimum of six (6) months’ experience in customer service or public relations, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Airport or airline customer services experience preferred.
Licenses and/or Certifications: Must be able to obtain and maintain an airport issued Secure Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge. Requires a valid driver license.
Other Requirements
Physical Requirements: Must be able to operate a variety of machines and equipment including computer, office equipment, telephone, etc. Must be able to exert up to 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently lift, carry, push and pull or otherwise move objects. Requires prolonged periods of standing. Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work.
Language Ability: Requires the ability to communicate effectively in English, including the ability to convey, and exchange information; requires the ability to explain procedures and to give, receive and follow oral and written instructions. Requires ability to read and understand basic technical data, policy and procedure manuals, codes, etc. Requires the ability to prepare forms and reports using prescribed formats, and adhering to all rules of spelling, grammar, punctuation, diction and style. Requires the ability to communicate with a broad array of individuals from various professional backgrounds.
Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; to interpret a variety of instructions in written and oral form; to make independent judgments in absence of supervision; to acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation.
Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to add and subtract totals, multiply and divide, use decimals and determine percentages.
Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress when confronted with emergencies or tight deadlines. EXAMPLES OF WORK
- Assists passengers in all areas of the airport ensuring they have the required documentation and approved items to expedite processing.
- Greets and acknowledges customers in a friendly manner; provides information to passengers regarding arrival and departure times, airline check in and checkpoint processing procedures in a polite and timely fashion.
- Assists passengers with self-service check-in kiosks.
- Assists colleagues in other areas of the airport to ensure wheelchairs, luggage carts and other items are available and in the proper locations for arriving and departing passengers.
- Maintains positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Ensures the concourses and surrounding grounds overall cleanliness. Performs custodial tasks (i.e., picking up and collecting trash, emptying and cleaning waste receptacles, disinfecting common area furniture and fixtures, stocking products in bathrooms, etc.).
- Provides customer service, communicates with other airport personnel and reports irregularities, as needed.
- Maintains and enhances positive public relations by responding to inquiries by the traveling public.
- Maintains the highest standards of safety and security at all times.
- Maintains required work schedule, including extended hours, and required attendance standards during peak periods.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
