- Actively engage and create a positive rapport with students, parents, staff and visitors.
- Receives calls concerning crimes, emergencies, and requests for service.
- Operates the district electronic records management and dispatch system
- Monitors fire and security alarms.
- Works with other agencies as needed to coordinate emergency response.
- Monitors school buildings, grounds, and parking lots to deter, detect, report and stop violations of the law and/or school board policies.
- Relay pertinent information to field officers for investigation as needed.
- Coordinates notifications in the event of an emergency.
- Assists school staff, law enforcement, and other emergency personnel in crisis and emergency situations.
- Must be able to remain calm and provide direction in sometimes tense emergency situations.
- Intervene when necessary to prevent potentially dangerous or disruptive situations. Notify building administration, supervisors, and emergency personnel as necessary.
- Display ethical and professional behavior with students, parents, staff, and outside agencies.
- Wear District designated attire and equipment in a clean and professional manner.
- Ensure grooming and appearance is professional in nature.
- Maintain a strict level of confidentiality concerning all OKCPS staff, students, and records.
- Monitor and operate electronic safety and security equipment.
- Maintain good physical condition.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to meet district’s insurance coverage requirements.
- Skilled in the use of computers and ability to use/learn computer aided dispatch software.

Dispatcher
Position Summary
Responsible for operation of the Oklahoma City Public Schools Security Command Center. The Security Dispatcher serves as the telephone communication link between calling parties, Security Officers and other OKCPS District resources.
**This position has been classified as Safety Sensitive in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act and/or the Department of Transportation (DOT), and Board Policy G-37-R3 Medical Marijuana & Safety Sensitive Positions Regulation. All candidates selected for hire or transferred into a Safety Sensitive position must undergo and pass a pre-employment drug screen before being hired or transferred. Employees holding safety-sensitive positions may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment, if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, even if they possess a medical marijuana license.**
Essential job functions include
Accurately and efficiently receiving and transmitting information via telephone and through hand held radios; input and/or retrieval of information concerning various emergency and non-emergency situations; recording detailed information obtained from callers by typing information into the records management system; routing calls to appropriate OKCPS Resources; monitoring calls and District resources to ensure safety of District employees, Students and visitors; monitor police and fire radio traffic as it relates to District property, staff, students and visitors; actively monitors/manage district security cameras, manage access control system and assists employees with access control issues. The work is reviewed through continual visual observation and through monitoring of radio frequencies and is under the direction of an immediate supervisor.
