Job Summary :
The Associate Director of Residence Life is a full-time, 12-month professional staff member who resides off-campus and provides visionary leadership and guidance to all residential programs and staff within the Department of Residence Life. This role is instrumental in enhancing the residential experience by overseeing and supporting programs and initiatives that align with the division's strategic plan. The Associate Director of Residence Life plays a crucial role in developing and implementing policies, goals, and objectives that support the mission of the Department of Housing, Residence Life, the Division of Student Affairs, and the University as a whole. This position reports directly to the Director of Housing and Residential Life.
The Associate Director of Residence Life provides leadership and supervision to a team of staff members and indirect guidance to student staff. This role also collaborates closely with departmental and divisional leadership to drive organizational management, program planning, and strategic initiatives. In a fast-paced and dynamic environment, the Associate Director of Residence Life will champion the vision of Student Affairs at Oklahoma State University, pursuing continuous improvement and innovation in all aspects of residence life. Through collaborative efforts with campus partners, the Associate Director of Residence Life will contribute to achieving the Division's goals and advancing student success and belongingness. The Associate Director of Residential Life ensures that the residential experience fosters educational, social, and personal growth in students as part of the overall co-curricular program. The Associate Director has responsibility for : creating a welcoming, safe and positive residential environment; monitoring the state of and proposing improvements to the physical infrastructure of residence halls; developing and implementing clear and educational housing and residential life policies; adjudicating student conduct issues. Associate Director works closely with other student-serving offices to promote student success, safety, persistence, and wellbeing.

Required Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree
Five years working in residential life in the college setting.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills
- Basic counseling and conflict mediation skills
- Strong and broad knowledge of student development theory
- Excellent professional judgment and ability to manage sensitive and confidential information
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with students and their parents, faculty, and staff within all areas of the College
- Intercultural competence and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
- Valid driver's license and ability to obtain college vehicle driving certification
- Ability and willingness to work some evenings and weekends as needed
- Must live within 15 minutes from OSU campus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Light Work : Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and / or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Preferred Qualifications :
Three years supervisory experience within residential life.
