Accuracy and attention to detail.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
Analytical Skills: Proficiency in interpreting data, identifying trends, and drawing meaningful conclusions to inform strategic initiatives.
Critical Thinking: Ability to analyze complex situations, evaluate options, and make well-reasoned decisions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Ability to communicate ideas effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two or more years of related experience.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Understanding of advanced functions in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP. etc)
Experience with point-of-sale systems.
Income tax preparation experience.
Knowledge of sales tax reporting process.

Key Responsibilities:
Sales Tax Reporting
- Manage monthly sales tax filings and reconciliations.
- Conduct reviews of sales tax reports for accuracy and variance analysis.
- Develop and implement policies for sales tax collection, remittance, and reporting.
- Provide training on sales tax processes and assist with automation software implementation.
- Manage sales tax exemption certificates and coordinate with tax authorities.
- Provide technical sales tax guidance to departments.
- Ensure compliance with state and local sales tax laws.
- Develop procedures to improve sales tax compliance and assist with audits.
- Address tax notices and recommend corrective actions for noncompliance issues.
- Communicate tax-related information to departmental fiscal officers.
- Assist with OSU’s annual tax return filing and tax planning.
- Conduct tax research and respond to inquiries on various tax matters.
- Maintain records of departments involved in selling goods and services.
- Develop training programs on sales tax compliance and tax-related matters.
- Administer sales tax software and update content on the Tax & Compliance Services website.
- Stay updated on changes to tax laws and ensure internal policies reflect those changes.
- Support special projects and initiatives as assigned.
