Overview
Okoye Law is looking for a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our growing legal team. This is an in-person legal assistant position. Experience in law is preferred. Office hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Duties
- Screen incoming calls to the firm
- Schedule appointments between potential clients/clients and attorneys
- Responsible for calendaring court dates and appearances
- Intake with potential clients
- Prepare agreements, correspondence, and pleadings
- Provide support to attorneys and paralegals
- Research and fact-checking
- Manage and download discovery
- Mail handling and posting
- Case management
- Accountability
- Quick learner and capable of handling job duties without handholding
Requirements
- Proven experience in a law office setting is highly desirable.
- Strong proofreading skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with or similar case management software is a plus.
- Knowledge of patent law or workers' compensation law is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards in all aspects of work.
