Purpose of Job:
Effective leader to serve as our Plant Manager at the Wildcat Point Generation Facility in Conowingo, Maryland. This individual directs the daily operations, maintenance, safety, and environmental compliance of a Combustion Turbine Combined Cycle generation facility. As Plant Manager, responsibilities also include overseeing the development of the operations and maintenance (O&M) budget, outage planning, leading and managing site personnel to achieve ODEC performance goals and recommending and upholding policies and procedures to ensure proper operation of the facility and equipment.
Essential responsibilities include:
- Responsible for the management of safe day-to-day activities of the plant, in compliance with ODEC operating policies and procedures
- Coordinate and execute facility maintenance outages with Corporate and other service organizations in a manner to minimize negative site impacts.
- Develop and execute expense and capital budgets on an annual basis.
- Manages plant assets to ensure efficient operations including the reporting and tracking of key performance indicators.
- Develops and ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and NERC policies and procedures.
- Effectively leads and manages 5 direct reports.
The Plant Manager typically works the day shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM), however will be required to work and be available based on plant requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Qualified candidate will have a high school diploma/GED combined with a minimum 8 years’ experience in power plant management OR a Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a minimum of 6 years experience in power plant management. Combined cycle power plant experience strongly preferred.
- Minimum 5 years effectively managing, leading and developing a power plant-related team of direct reports.
Critical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Professionally and effectively interact with all levels of the organization, onsite contractors and vendors
- Clear, concise oral and written communications skills
- Ability to make safe, well thought-out critical decisions
- Ability to effectively and timely problem solve
- Intermedial level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
- Ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Ability to evaluate and prioritize capital projects, including new equipment purchases, upgrades, and facility improvements.
Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Combined Cycle Power Plant experience strongly preferred
- Mitsubishi “G” and/or “J” class gas turbine experience preferred
- LTSA (Long Term Service Agreement) negotiation and/or management experience preferred
Education:
- High school diploma or GED combined with a minimum 8 years’ experience in power plant management OR a Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a minimum of 6 years' experience in power plant management.
Travel details: Occasional travel via commercial airline or automobile
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
- Work outdoors for long periods of time while exposed to various weather conditions
- Walk on uneven surfaces and stack platforms and climb stack ladders hundreds of feet high
- Distinguish colors and accurately read and interpret instruments and gauges
- Hear and understand audible alarms and detect changes in noise levels of rotating equipment and portable radio communication
- Occasionally work in confined spaces
- Occasionally lift and or move objects up to 50 pounds
- Ability to respond in person to plant emergencies
- Occasional day and overnight travel via automobile and commercial airline required in this position as needed
Compensation:
Compensation range: Exempt position $208,555.00 - $231,728.00/year
Based on the requirements of this role, the target rate we anticipate paying the selected candidate is $208,555.00 annually. If an employment offer is extended, the rate offered will consider several factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, education, and certifications. Depending on an individual's qualifications, the offered rate may exceed this target.
