Job Responsibilities:
- Evaluate employee’s performance to ensure that the correct wage is being paid when performance is satisfactory.
- Handle employee conflicts by acting as a liaison between supervisors and employees to ensure that disciplinary actions are taken accordingly.
- Provide production information to Management when requested. Scales system (midnight to midnight) versus Elite system numbers. Production yields by compost.
- Meet with prospective vendors and work out contracts for different services that benefit the farm’s operation.
- Provide tours of the farm to different interest groups.
- Monitor daily production yields by room based on the Elite tracking system. Review reporting for number of Opens. Target is 5%. Share information with supervisors if needed.
- Ensure that pounds are allocated to the correct rooms in order to provide accurate yield information. 1 hour per day. Verify crew sheets versus info in elite to ensure floor runner didn’t make errors. Does not need to be Farm Manager role. Itza trained, Raquel trained.
- Compare production totals between the Elite system and the Scale system to ensure accuracy in payroll.
- Monitor that pounds paid to harvesters are accurate and that any inputting errors are corrected.
- Monitoring rooms to get an idea of what the production for the day will look like and check with supervisors for order details.
- Monitor spawn run and case hold rooms to better understand the growing process.
- Oversee that the facility is in good operation daily and in a presentable state by delegating cleaning or maintenance jobs to the appropriate departments.
- Overseeing employees to ensure that they fulfill the responsibilities of their jobs and provide support to supervisor when needed.
- Tracking of room information such as amount of compost filled, spawn, CAC and supplement to be able to analyze and compare the efficiency of products used.
- Review and sign off on invoices for services and materials provided to the farm.
- Review the night picking order and the rooms to be harvested with Jaime and ensure that night shift supervisors are clear on harvesting requirements.
- Record daily water meter readings to record water sent to septic system. Saturday and Sunday numbers are fudged.
- Communicate with HR staff to ensure that attendance for all departments is being followed accordingly especially the harvesting departments.
- Ensure that there is enough coverage for the supervisory roles and growing departments. Follow up on vacation and personal day requests.
- Tracking of harvester’s averages to keep track of their performance.
- Review hours report to ensure that overtime is reasonable. Verify with supervisors of Dept.30 that their employees’ overtime is productive.
- Overseeing the scale tickets to ensure that the correct tare weights are being used and that Scalers are selecting the correct product.
- Act as support for growers by providing relevant information from the schedule as to when rooms are filled, cased and picking date.
- Monitor spending for services provided to the farm.
- Monitor maintenance issues and contact maintenance crew to fix them.
- Follow up on maintenance issues to ensure the proper operation of the facility.
- Maintain a good relationship with the county by participating in government subcommittee meetings.
- Sign off on QA weekly reports. Support QA tech in any corrective actions arising from the weekly inspections.
- Approve time sheets for growers and office staff.
- Record pick day for growing rooms on day of casing.
- Make Fill Schedule for the farms and provide each individual vendor with schedule information for the delivery of compost, spawn, supplement and CAC.
- Ensure that the farm has the sufficient inventory of packaging material by continuous monitoring and communication with the responsible supervisor.
- Review requirements on peat moss for the coming three months for Warwick and Paramount.
- Record monthly water meter readings from wells for annual reporting for water permit.
- Review maintenance logs for planned maintenance on llories, hangers and harvesting carts.
- Take inventory of the farm every quarter and provide information to management.
- Conduct employee meetings with harvesters to follow up on safety, food safety, and concerns that they may have.
- Ensure that the farm’s different permits are up to date and notify the corresponding person when permits need to be renewed.
- Ensure that inspections are completed and that a satisfying score is achieved.
