💡 Central Lab Technician – Summer Intern
Department: Quality Assurance / Quality Control
Reports to: QA Manager / Production Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Prepared by: QA Manager – Talent Acquisition Specialist
Starting Pay: Hourly – based on experience and qualifications
Position Overview:
Looking to gain hands-on experience in food science or quality control? Join our QA Team this summer as a Central Lab Technician Intern!
You’ll receive direct mentorship from the Quality Assurance Manager and work alongside experienced team members in our lab. This is a great opportunity to develop your lab skills, work on real-world projects, and gain insight into quality assurance in a production environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Perform in-process and final product tests such as: % moisture, % oil, % salt, color, and more
- Monitor X-Ray equipment hourly and investigate issues
- Place the product on hold if needed and complete proper documentation
- Verify and inspect incoming materials (seasonings, oil, packaging, etc.)
- Swab and inspect equipment post-cleaning
- Test for nitrogen levels, seal integrity, and product safety
- Record and analyze test data in our lab systems
- Keep the lab clean, organized, and safety compliant
- Participate in special QA projects as assigned
What We’re Looking For:
- Current college student or recent graduate in a science-related field (Food Science preferred)
- Strong math and computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Willingness to learn and take initiative
- Great communication and time management skills
Physical Requirements:
- Stand and walk throughout your shift
- Use stairs or ladders as needed
- Lift up to 10 lbs frequently, and occasionally up to 35 lbs
- Work in a lab/plant environment (may be noisy or slippery – PPE provided)
