Position Overview :

The IT Manager will lead and manage our teams within the IT Shared Services department. This role is crucial in ensuring seamless IT operations for our corporate office in Chicago and our remote subsidiary locations. The ideal candidate will be results-oriented, capable of motivating a team to deliver exceptional technical support. This includes timely issue resolution, proactive problem management, staff guidance and coaching, and consistent adherence to service level agreements (SLAs). This role offers a great opportunity to make a significant impact on the organization by ensuring smooth technology support operations.

Essential Job Functions :

  • Plan and direct the work of a team of technical support specialists, including day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient and effective support delivery.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for escalated technical issues, providing hands-on support when necessary.
  • Manage day-to-day standard operating procedures for technical support tasks.
  • Streamline support and operations processes and procedures to improve efficiency.
  • Identify area for improvement in technical support processes and implement changes to enhance service quality.
  • Contribute to the annual enhancement of IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with users, team members, and other stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding and resolution of technical issues.

Leadership and Team Management :

  • Provide direction and leadership to the IT teams, setting clear goals and performance expectations.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, encouraging collaboration and teamwork across the department.
  • Mentor and develop team members to enhance technical skills and knowledge. Provide appropriate learning opportunities and knowledge transfer as needed.
  • Additional job functions will be necessary for the success of this role.
  • Qualifications :

  • Associate’s degree in information technology or a related field preferred or equivalent experience or 5 years of professional experience.
  • Demonstrable experience in a leadership or management capacity. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high performing team.
  • Experience managing competing projects, setting priorities, and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Windows desktop and laptop hardware, software, email systems, VPN, and conference room technology.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple and competing priorities.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and sound decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with users at all levels.
  • Experience with IT service management frameworks such as ITIL is a plus.
  • Preferred Skills :

  • Experience with standard hardware, Windows software systems, Microsoft Active Directory, and M365.
  • Experience supporting users in both corporate environment and remote locations.
  • Knowledge of remote support tools and technologies.
  • Familiarity with onboarding processes and general IT security best practices.
  • Experience providing support to Executive-level users, identifying and resolving technical issues in a timely manner.
