Reporting to the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications with creative direction from the Chief Marketing Officer, the Graphic Designer manages and executes the visual communication needs across all Old Sturbridge Village entities, including Coggeshall Farm Museum, Old Sturbridge Academy, and Worcester Cultural Academy. This high-energy position requires exceptional time management skills and the ability to pivot seamlessly between multiple concurrent projects while maintaining strict deadlines and high-quality standards. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift rapidly, and turnaround times are often compressed.

The Graphic Designer is an internal expert in visual storytelling, brand standards, and creative execution, transforming complex historical narratives and institutional messaging into engaging visual communications. This position demands a unique blend of creative talent, technical expertise, and efficiency to support the museum's diverse and time-sensitive needs - from marketing collateral and digital assets to exhibition materials and environmental graphics. Working closely with the Marketing & Communications team and collaborating across departments, the Designer ensures all creative output maintains the highest quality standards while adhering to brand guidelines and meeting strategic organizational goals, often under tight deadlines.

Old Sturbridge Village, the largest outdoor history museum in the Northeast, depicts a rural New England town of the 1830s. Primary Duties & Responsibilities

· Create and produce high-quality design solutions for print, digital, and environmental graphics

· Design marketing materials including but not limited to: brochures, advertisements, signage, social media and website graphics, logo and type treatments, and exhibition materials

· Maintain brand consistency across all materials and platforms

· Prepare and manage files for both print and digital production

· Assist with photography and videography assets

· Collaborate with marketing team members and other departments to understand project needs and deliver effective design solutions

· Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines

· Archive and organize design files and assets

· Support the museum's special events and programs with necessary design materials

· Contribute to the evolution of the museum's visual brand identity

Candidate Requirements

· Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or related field

· 3-5 years of professional design experience in fast-paced environment

· Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator

· Strong understanding of print production processes and file preparation

· Experience with digital design and web graphics

· Extensive knowledge of accessible design standards

· Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

· Strong time management skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

· Portfolio demonstrating versatility in design work

· Knowledge of current design trends and best practices

· Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience working in a non-profit or cultural institution

· Knowledge of or interest in early American history

· Experience with photography, videography, motion graphics and video editing and familiarity with HTML/CSS and web design principles is a plus

Additional Requirements:

· Occasional evening and weekend work may be required for special events

· Must be able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
