What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director, Pupil Services (Elementary)- Olentangy Schools position at Olentangy Local School District?
There will be an Assistant Director, Pupil Services (Elementary) position available within Olentangy Schools for the 2025-26 school year. The Assistant Director of Pupil Services will provide direction and organizational structure to the Student Services staff in the implementation of policies and procedures related to Federal and State laws for Special Education, Section 504, Title III, and other areas of student services as assigned. Responsible for leadership of the district's special education programming. Coordinate and administer special education, appropriate Title programs and related services. Works collaboratively with teachers, parents, and students to achieve this goal. Qualified candidates must hold or be eligible for valid and appropriate licensure for each position with the Ohio State Department of Education and Workforce.
Qualifications for the position include: a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university; graduate or professional degree; special education and/or administrator's certificate; hold a current Ohio administrative license; hold a current Ohio intervention specialist license or pupil serives license; five (5) years of related administrative experience; at least three (3) years special education classroom experience; and teaching experience in special education or related services for a minimum of three (3) years. Alternative to the above qualifications as superintendent and/or board of education may find appropriate.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, ADA, Title rules, preschool rules and other relevant legislation; school finance skills or experience; knowledge of public-school policies and practices; experience teaching and/or coordinating academic programs; ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing; ability and skill to operate various computer programs; ability to effectively supervise and manage administrative, certified, and classified employees; understanding and patient with staff, parents, and students; experience related to serving students eligible for services under Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), 504s and English Learners (EL); trained in prevention intervention - trauma and/or crisis situations; credentialed in the Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES); and demonstrated experience with managing special education programs, inclusive education practices, multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS); proven ability to foster collaborative relationships with staff, students, families, and community partners; excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and decision-making skills; and a commitment to equity, inclusivity, and meeting the needs of a diverse student population
