Focus: The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for resolving plant issues, driving improvements, and sharing knowledge to strengthen the performance of the team. The Maintenance Engineer works with other individuals and teams to establish and achieve annual spending plans, production commitments to the business, and cost goals.

The Freeport site is the single largest chlor alkali complex in the world with more than 1,000 employees. The chemical products produced at our Freeport location include chlorine and caustic soda, vinyls, epoxies, chlorinated organics, aromatics, bleach, hydrogen, and hydrochloric acid.

Maintenance Engineer Essential Job Functions:

• Serves as Subject Matter Expert in equipment failures and repair techniques during root cause investigations, as well as providing expertise on troubleshooting failures and repairs
• Provides leadership and direction in the day-to-day decision making for the operating area of responsibility while networking with other engineers on site and within the business to leverage knowledge on plant operations
• For process-critical equipment, ensures that work requests include engineering input on repair details such as clearances, tolerances, materials of construction, welding procedures, etc. and if necessary, provides onsite/offsite technical support for deviations from this data
• Shares on-call responsibilities with other plant personnel. Helps coordinate area of responsibility during planned shutdown and maintenance activities
• Applies skills and technical knowledge to develop job scopes and plans, and supports execution during projects, turnarounds, shutdowns, and start-ups
  
  

Maintenance Engineer Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree* in Engineering; Mechanical Engineering degree* preferred
• 5 years of project/manufacturing or design engineering experience, with at least 3 of those years in a manufacturing setting; prior experience in Maintenance or Reliability Engineering preferred
• Work experience with the following preferred:
• Corrosion Under Insulation Remediation
• Pump Seal System Evaluations and Improvements
• Vessel and Plant Lifetime Extension Projects
• Work experience with managing vendor proposals and quotations, contractor bids and development of desired solutions for projects preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of API standards such as API510, API571, API653 and other related standards, as well as knowledge of OSHA 1910.119 PSM preferred
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills - verbal and written; demonstrated ability to problem solve and work in a team environment, leading the team in many cases
• Prior experience using SAP preferred
• Prior Olin experience in a relevant position preferred
• Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and possess a valid US Driver's license
