POSITION OVERVIEW
As Texas Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring equipment operations remain at peak performance, with minimal downtime for Freeport/Seadrift Operations. You will support and maintain responsibility for the efficient installation, repair, and service of equipment that you will be operating on a day-to-day basis. This role will require the ability to maintain regular communication with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and work in an environment that prioritizes safety and efficiency. This role will support Freeport and Seadrift Operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate equipment including but not limited to forklift, manlift, air compressors and other similar mechanical and industrial machinery.
- Apply knowledge of mechanical work, metal fabrication, and plant operations and other industrial fields to service and repair equipment.
- Follow and apply safety standards prioritizing quality and efficiency while working well independently or with others and demonstrating a sense of urgency and purpose.
- Communicate mechanical issues and complex maintenance issues to team members, management and other required and relevant internal/external stakeholders as needed, in a timely manner.
- Serve as a preventative maintenance resource for Division 5 Texas Operations (Freeport/Seadrift).
- Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot and analyze technical problems effectively, work with outside resources on advanced troubleshooting and technical problems.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies; report potential safety hazards.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and inventory.
- Maintain all maintenance records in the Emaint system. Build upon the existing E-maint system so that all equipment in Freeport/Seadrift is in E-Manit.
- Work with the Division Engineer on maintenance projects pertaining to Freeport/Seadrift equipment.
- Serve as back up to the Watco Wash Rack Technician.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks in Watco owned/Leased buildings, coordinate with outside services when needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Minimum 5 Years in plant operations.
- Experience and proficiency in mechanics, pneumatics, piping and including the ability to troubleshoot.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Positive attitude with the ability to adopt new procedures and prioritize safety.
- Proficiency with tools and equipment used in maintenance tasks.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and record-keeping.
- Familiarity with safety practices in an industrial setting (Dow).
- Excellent communication skills.
- The ability to lift 50 pounds, stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, twist, perform repetitive motions, and climb and work from ladders.
- Support operations during off hours when needed.
- Candidate will be required to attend Watco Leadership classes along with Division 5 ground school.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must be able to pass and or obtain all reporting, testing, and certifications as required for this position.
- High School Diploma or General Education (GED)
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The role requires mobility and manual dexterity to navigate an industrial environment, including the use of standard office equipment. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in person and via radio or phone and have the vision to read various materials and inspect safety signs. Physical tasks include lifting to 50 pounds, using ladders and power tools, and performing fieldwork in various weather conditions while being exposed to noise, dust, and machinery. The candidate must be able to support both Freeport and Seadrift operations so travel will be required.
