What are the responsibilities and job description for the Night Monitor position at Olive Crest?
SUMMARY OF WORK PERFORMED: Responsible for the supervision of CSEC youth (females, ages 16-21) in a residential group home. This includes mentoring as a role model, teaching independent living skills, behavior modifications and crisis management. Qualified applicants must be at least 21 years of age. One year of previous residential experience in a related field preferred, but not required. Bachelor’s degree or two years prior group home experience required.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise and provide a safe environment for clients residing in the home.
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness in the home.
- 15-minute room checks on each client during sleeping hours.
- Ensure that all clients are appropriately groomed and dressed prior to leaving for school.
- Prepare additional meals during evening hours if requested by supervisor.
- Transport clients to appointments, school, "on-call" home when necessary.
- Report client absences to school in a.m.
- Report emergency coverage to house manager and be prepared to remain on duty until day staff arrives.
- Available to staff home during holidays and emergencies.
- Interface with clinical staff, community agencies, administrators and public school personnel.
- Implement treatment plan as devised by team and directed by Head of Service Clinician
- Maintain accurate records and reports on a daily basis: Intake information, personal logs, treatment notes, staff communication log, termination assessment, incident and runaway reports and behavioral contracts.
- Ensure proper medical attention for each client.
- Administer and accurately document all medications, i.e. medication log.
- Transport clients to appointments (i.e. court, medical, school) when needed.
- Attend and participate in all staff, treatment team and in-service training meetings.
- Ensure that house and van keys are kept out of the hands of clients at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a Bachelor of Arts or Science degree or two years of full-time experience, or 2) its equivalent, working with at risk youth, or 3) two years’ experience as a member of the social work staff in a group home or residential program.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Experience working in Human Services preferred.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record as determined by Olive Crest's insurance carrier.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Ability to speak and write English and prepare complete, concise and clear reports.
- Ability to perform housekeeping duties.
- Ability to intervene during crisis situations with minors up to 20 years of age.
- Adequate vision and hearing to be able to supervise clients properly.
- Criminal record clearance.
