As a Fire Alarm Designer, you are responsible to produce quality life safety designs that meet or exceed customer expectations and industry standards.
Primary Objectives of Position:

- Design of Fire Alarm/Mass Notification/Security Alarm systems in AutoCAD for shop and record drawings.
- Communicate with the customer, Design Manager, sales persons and project managers for status updates of assigned jobs.
- Perform battery and voltage drop calculations for fire alarm systems.
- Produce submittal package comprising of drawings, calculations and datasheets for permits.
- Support contract sales efforts by reviewing plans, specifications, and bids for technical accuracy and best practices.
- Participate in weekly design meetings.
- Participate in all job kick-off meetings, when requested.
- Assist entry to mid-level designers when requested by Design Manager.
- Maintain knowledge of latest materials and techniques of design and installation.
- Participate in industry organizations pertinent to the design or code requirements of alarm systems.
- Timely creation and submittal of O&M packages for completed projects.
- Timely creation and submission of RFI’s for projects assigned to you.
- Perform site surveys to gather pertinent information when necessary.
- Work with Permit Coordinator to submit drawings, documentation and competed applications for permitting to the proper municipalities and/or authorities. with the appropriate transmittal forms.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required, Bachelors’ degree preferred
- 5 years of experience as a fire alarm designer
- NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level III or higher
- Delaware Fire Alarm License Holder preferred
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD
- VESDA design capability preferred
- Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings
- Microsoft Office experience required(Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Excellent communication skills required
- Ability to multitask successfully
- Must have a valid driver’s license & pass pre-employment drug screening & background checks
