The Opportunity
Machine Operator
Sets up and operates converting packaging equipment to assemble packaging products for disposable medical device packaging by performing the following duties in a safe manner, following specifications, and ensuring quality products.
Shift 1st/2nd/3rd
1st shift-6a.m.-2p.m.
2nd shift-2p.m.-10p.m.
3rd shift 10p.m.-6a.m.
What You’ll Work On
- Set up and operate converting equipment by following established work procedures and instructions.
- Read and understand converting customer specifications.
- Regulates, operates, and adjusts equipment and controls
- Visually inspects output and continually monitors dimensional characteristics, manufacturing standards, and registrations
- Ensures proper operation of equipment. Completes basic maintenance requirements, follows manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshoots malfunctions and calls for repairs.
- Completes required paperwork per department work instructions and enters required labor reporting data
- Clean dies and return to storage area.
- Perform all necessary housekeeping duties, as defined by team leader, to maintain safe and organized work area.
- Conduct/participate in 5S and safety audits, implement corrective actions and inspect product.
- Department Schedule: works the standard shift as well as extra hours, as needed.
- Reads and follows detailed instructions.
- High degree of attention to detail.
- Possesses basic mathematical aptitude.
- Accurately reads measuring rule.
- Possesses effective communication skills.
- May be required to stand for long periods of time while performing duties.
- Must be able to work safely with materials and equipment.
- The ability to read and understand documents and drawings.
- The ability to follow directions or instruction.
- The ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Works in controlled Manufacturing environment.
- Hearing protection recommended.
- Hair, beard nets and smocks required.
- Exposure to manufacturing and printing equipment (moving parts, cutters, etc.).
- Exposure to materials and handling equipment.
- Exposure to odors associated with manufacturing.
- High school diploma or trade school certification, specialized training/apprenticeship and/or equivalent in Electronics, Engineering Technology, or other equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year of related experience in fabricating machine operations required or related machinery in related business
- Demonstrated ability in – Proficiently set-up and run at least 2 machines.
- Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Ability to work with assemblers and other non-technical personnel
- Ability to teach and coach others
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate with cross-functional teams
- Adept at handling multiple assignments in a timely manner to meet assigned deadlines
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work under limited supervision
- 0-3 years of manufacturing technician experience preferred, but not required
- Medical device experience preferred, but not required
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and basic Excel use for data analysis
