Territory Sales Manager Position Summary (Southern U.S. Territory)
The Territory Sales Manager is responsible for identifying and developing relationships with new customers to drive business growth within a designated region. This role requires expertise in consultative sales and solution selling to understand customer needs and deliver tailored products and services. The ideal candidate will be proactive in generating new business opportunities, consistently following up on leads, and successfully managing long-term sales cycles to close multi-year projects while achieving quarterly and annual performance goals.
Primary Responsibilities
Sales Growth
- Develop and maintain good relationships in a specific territory
- Support global key accounts in territory and share insights and intelligence with the global sales organization
- Consistently update and work within a customer relationship management (CRM) tool
- Develop new customers and close new business to meet regional territory sales growth objectives
- Follow up quickly on marketing leads generated, ensure consistent messages and needs are addressed when leads are routed
- Promote company products and capabilities via customer meetings, industry exhibitions and technical seminars
- Attend regional association meetings, networking and become member as necessary to expand Oliver’s presence in the region
- Interface regularly with commercial leaders regarding new product and new market opportunities
- Identify target accounts and create a strategy for closing new business
- Uncover price targets and competitive information
- Tailor sales presentations to meet the needs of different buyer personas and market applications
Basic Qualifications
Education:
- B.S. in Marketing, Sales, General Business, Engineering or closely related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of proven success in commission-based sales, manufacturing sales, or multi-process sales.
Other Requirements:
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain strong customer relationships.
- A proactive, results-driven approach to sales, with a strong hunting mentality.
- Excellent presentation skills with the ability to engage and persuade diverse audiences.
- Strong negotiation and closing skills, with a track record of achieving sales targets.
Location Requirements:
This position requires the candidate to reside within the Southern territory of the United States, preferably in Texas. Candidates must be based within the region to effectively manage customer relationships, attend in-person meetings, and support business development efforts. Regular travel within the territory will be required
Preferred Qualifications
2 years of commission-based sales, managing key accounts, and new business selling in a team environment
A mastery of sales negotiation techniques
Working Conditions
This position offers a flexible, hybrid work arrangement, allowing for a combination of remote and in-office work. While much of the work can be performed remotely, the Territory Sales Manager may be required to work on-site, as needed. On-site work will take place in a professional office environment, where the individual will interact with team members, collaborate across departments and engage in meetings to support the company’s goals. The hybrid nature of this role provides flexibility, while ensuring alignment and engagement with office-based teams and resources.
Travel Requirements
This position requires up to 50% travel to meet with customers and potential new business clients and attend trade shows or industry conferences. Travel will be essential to building customer relationships, driving business development and staying connected with industry trends and opportunities. Trips will be scheduled in advance, based on business needs.
